Agnesian HealthCare - St. Agnes Hospital

Architect: The Zimmerman Design Group

C.D. Smith Construction provided general contracting services for all four phases of the modernization project at St. Agnes Hospital. St. Agnes, Fond du Lac’s only hospital, is the centerpiece of Agnesian HealthCare and vital to the Fond du Lac Community. In addition to being a primary care provider, Agnesian HealthCare is also the second largest employer in Fond du Lac. The pride and history of St. Agnes dates back to 1896, when it was founded by Mother Agnes Hazotte and the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Agnes.

The extensive modernization project was a culmination of precise planning, broad communication, teamwork and skilled execution. The phases included a vertical expansion over existing space; an   addition of 369,000 square feet for the South Building; demolition of 300,000 square feet of existing hospital space; and remodel of 50,000 square feet.

Based on the scope and complexities of the project, the implementation plan was structured to be delivered in four major phases.
  • Phase I. Renovation and Expansion of the Diagnostic and Treatment Center
  • Phase II. Addition of The South Tower
  • Phase III. Demolition of 300,000 Square Feet of Antiquated, Inefficient Space
  • Phase IV. Remodeling, and the Chapel and Lobby Addition
The schedule for the first phase of the project began in the summer of 2001 and continued through completion in June of 2006.
