46,000 square feet
Project Length: 11 ½ months
Architect: Bray Associates
The addition and renovation of the Kohler K-12 School met the challenge of providing a highly modern and technological building while maintaining the historical appearance of Kohler. C.D. Smith was hired in the early stages of plan development in order to insure the design fit the budget. Additions consisted of a grand lobby which connected a 20,000 square foot gym and new administrative offices. The lobby is constructed with terrazzo floors, stone wainscoting, stainless steel railings and a curved glass curtain wall. Eight additional classrooms were constructed. Remodeling/renovating took place in nearly the entire existing facility. Work consisted of refreshing the majority of classrooms and corridors, converting an existing gym into a cafeteria and updating a 50-year old Family and Consumer Education room into a state-of-the-art teaching/learning space. The entire electrical and HVAC systems were also upgraded.
